UN DESA is pleased to invite you to the webinar “Accountable and Efficient Public Procurement in Times of Crisis to Prevent Corruption,” to be held on Thursday, 17 September 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. (New York time/EDT).

Public procurement is a critical government function and an important instrument for delivering public services, advancing sustainable development, and responding effectively to crises. However, it is also particularly vulnerable to corruption. These risks are heightened during crises, when governments may need to procure goods, services and infrastructure rapidly, under challenging conditions and with greater uncertainty.

Strengthening procurement systems is therefore essential to ensure that public resources are managed efficiently, transparently and with integrity. Effective procurement can contribute to improved service delivery, stronger public institutions and increased public trust, while supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 16 on effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions.

The webinar will introduce three complementary UN DESA knowledge products:

The webinar will also highlight practical approaches to strengthening integrity, transparency, accountability, and efficiency in procurement systems and provide an opportunity for practitioners and experts to share experiences on improving procurement governance during crises.

We invite you to register for the webinar and share this invitation with colleagues, policymakers and practitioners in your organization and professional networks.
